Damp Proofing
Rising damp and penetrating damp diagnosed and treated. Chemical DPC injection, salt-inhibiting render systems and proper reinstatement in period and modern property alike.
Damp proofing
We find what is actually causing the damp in your property — rising damp, penetrating damp, condensation or below-ground water ingress — then fix it with a written guarantee. Every job starts with a survey, because the wrong treatment costs more than the right one.
Rather talk it through first? Call 0207 126 8487 and speak to a specialist. No obligation, no sales script.
A damp patch in a Victorian terrace and a basement waterproofing specification for a new development are very different jobs. They get the same discipline: diagnose properly, specify clearly, install to standard.
Damp patches, black mould, peeling paint or a musty smell that will not shift. We identify the cause, explain it in plain English and put it right.
Design-stage input, BS 8102 compliant waterproofing specifications, and installation for basements, retaining walls and below-ground structures.
Five core disciplines, one team. Everything below starts with a survey and ends with a written guarantee.

Damp proofing
Design and installation to BS 8102 for basements, cellars and vaults. Cavity drain membranes, cementitious tanking and structural systems for conversions, new builds and remedial work.
Basement waterproofing
Black mould is a symptom, not the problem. We establish whether the cause is ventilation, insulation, cold bridging or an underlying damp defect, then fix the source so it does not return.
Condensation & mould
Moisture profiling, salts analysis and thermal imaging where the job calls for it. You get a written report setting out the cause, the recommended fix and the cost — fee deducted if works proceed.

Dry rot, wet rot and woodworm identified and treated at source. Because timber decay is always a moisture problem first, we deal with the water before we deal with the timber.
Timber treatment
Portfolio damp programmes, BS 8102 design support for architects, and waterproofing installation on commercial and mixed-use schemes. Documented, insured, programme-aware.
Commercial servicesWe never recommend a treatment before the cause is established. It is the single biggest reason damp work fails and has to be done twice.
A qualified specialist inspects the property, assessing construction type, external ground levels, drainage, ventilation and moisture patterns.
Moisture profiling, salts analysis and thermal imaging where needed, so we identify the root cause rather than the visible symptom.
A written report setting out the recommended system, the scope of works and the cost. Plain English, itemised, no jargon padding.
Trained technicians install to manufacturer specification and recognised best practice, protected, tidied and backed by a written guarantee.
Damp is one of the most misdiagnosed problems in UK housing, and the wrong treatment costs more than the right one. Our surveys come before any recommendation, and our team is trained to the standards the industry actually recognises.
Matrix Damp 'n' Mould is the damp and waterproofing division of Matrix BAU Property Solutions Ltd — a London property repairs business. That background matters more than it sounds.
Damp is rarely just damp. It is usually a failed gutter, a bridged DPC, a raised patio, a blocked airbrick, a cold bridge behind a kitchen unit or a flat roof that has been quietly failing for two winters. A contractor who only sells damp proofing will find damp proofing. We are set up to find — and fix — whatever is actually letting the water in.
That means honest answers, including the ones that cost us work. If your problem is condensation and what you need is better ventilation rather than a chemical DPC, we will tell you so and price the right job.
The business is run by Tony Murphy, who oversees every survey report that leaves it. Call 0207 126 8487 and he is who you speak to.

A standard residential damp survey in London is typically £180–£350 including VAT, depending on the size of the property and how much of it needs inspecting. Specialist work such as a full basement waterproofing assessment, a pre-purchase damp and timber report or extensive thermal imaging is priced individually. The survey fee is deducted from the cost of works if you go ahead with us.
As a rough guide: rising damp shows as a tide mark roughly 1m up a ground-floor wall, often with salt deposits and blown plaster, and it does not change much with the weather. Condensation shows as black spotted mould in corners, around windows, behind furniture and on cold external walls, and it is worse in winter. In practice the two are confused constantly, and treating one as the other is expensive. That is exactly what a survey settles.
Yes. Installations come with a written guarantee — the length depends on the system, from 10 years on a typical damp proof course and replaster up to 20 years on some waterproofing installations. The guarantee document sets out exactly what is covered and what it is conditional on, and you receive it on completion rather than having to ask for it.
Surveys are usually booked within 2–5 working days across London, and the written report follows within 48 hours of the visit. If you have an urgent situation — an active leak, a flooded basement, or a tenant health and safety issue with a statutory deadline — call 0207 126 8487 and tell us, and we will prioritise it.
Regularly. We provide the documentation that letting agents, housing associations and local authorities need, including surveys that address damp and mould hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System and the timescales introduced by Awaab's Law. We can work around tenants, attend with notice and report directly to the agent or the landlord as you prefer.
All 32 London boroughs plus the City, and we regularly work across Hertfordshire, Essex, Kent, Surrey and Buckinghamshire. For commercial and specification work we travel further. If you are not sure whether we reach you, send your postcode and we will tell you straight away.

Book a survey and you get a written report: what is causing the damp, what it takes to fix it and what it costs. No pressure, no guesswork.
